Well we drove out east one day just to get away from it all Got lost all along the way but it didn't bother us at all Zigzaggin' a trip across the route we had planned to take Digging all of the scenery and the memories it would make Tunneling into Pittsburgh, warp factor number five Was like crawling through a hole in the ground and coming out in the sky By the third or fourth night Shenandoah was in sight And we camped by the light of a moon that was big and full and bright Talking all about the girls we had left at home Dreaming all about another kind who go away to roam And dreams can come true so it seemed so innocent When a week of missing turns ended in a tent So little did we think next day when we took a swim What we'd find there by the waterfall, young, smart, cute and slim Three of 'em there, shaped relief, basking in the sun Wicked Wendy Bell, Desiree and voluptuous Susan So we asked 'em back to our tent for an afternoon of fun Talking, laughing, sucking beer playing guitars in the sun But night was coming on and they said they had to leave Back to their little tent hidden in the trees Way out somewhere, no-man's land, just off the Appalachian Trail But Wendy said "You can follow us," so we drove there right on their tail And packing down a mile or more dimly through the trees We saw their little hideaway and were a little more than pleased Desiree cooked the dinner, Bill and I chopped the wood Susan rearranged the tent and Wendy just looked good And after it was all washed down with a big red jug of wine The forest got so dark and still it just about blew our minds Then the rain came down and the bears came out or at least that's how it seemed And the five of us crawled into the tent or was it into a dream The morning after we kissed goodbye and headed out with a sigh Them for their boyfriends back at home and us for another ride Zigzaggin' a trip across the route we had planned to take And digging all of the scenery and the memories it would make Flying through the countryside in and out of redneck bars But most of our time was really spent picking tunes on our guitars Instrumental Break |
